After installing Headwind Remote, I keep getting occasional errors when the Headwind MDM web page loads resources:

500 Internal Server Error

docker-compose logs nginx

returns:

socket() failed (24: No file descriptors available) while connecting to upstream

What should be adjusted to fix this error?

This error means that nginx is running with a too low limit of files.

You can check this by a command:

docker-compose exec nginx sh -c 'cat /proc/1/limits | grep "open files"'

The default number of open files is 1024 which may be too low for Headwind MDM managing a few thousands of devices.

To fix the issue:

- Add the following parameters to templates/docker-compose/docker-compose.yaml.j2:

services:

  nginx:

    ulimits:

      nofile:

        soft: 65535

        hard: 65535

Run the command to build the config file from the template:

./configure.sh

Apply settings by re-creating the Headwind Remote container:

docker-compose down

docker-compose up -d

The number of max open files should be changed to 65535.
