Hi everyone,

I'm trying to understand how to properly schedule app updates in a configuration so that they only get installed during a specific time window at night (roughly midnight to 6 AM), while I still need to push/send the updates during the day while I'm working.

In the configuration settings I can see two time fields, but I don't fully understand what each one controls or how they interact with each other.

Could someone explain:

  1. What is the difference between the two time settings in the configuration?
  2. Does one of them control when the update is pushed/downloaded to the device, and the other when it's actually installed?
  3. Is it possible to push an update during the day but have it only install at night, once our operators are done using the devices?
  4. If yes, how should I set these two fields to achieve: push during working hours, install only between 00:00 and 06:00?

Our use case: devices are used by operators during the day, so we can't have updates installing while they're actively working. We need updates to be silently installed overnight instead.

Any clarification on how this scheduling logic works would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Learn more about the "System Update" field here: https://qa.h-mdm.com/9314/android-update-options-in-headwind-mdm

Application Update – Manage the update policy for applications managed by Headwind MDM. This is the time period during which app updates can be installed. Don't set it too short, as the apps may not have time to install.

Please note that these settings do not apply to updating pre-installed apps on your device. The time is specified in the UTC time zone.

Specify a time period between 00:00 and 06:00
