Android 11 - apps updating in loop

Hi,

I've just upgraded one of our Samsung tablets to Android 11. Something is causing that MDM Agent is downloading and installing same applications in loop.

I'm aware of a similar issue (Android 11 doesn't report app install complete) but its repeating twice only. Do you see a longer loop?

How long is the loop? Is it finished after 2 attempts of download?

The origin of the issue is the new security rules of Package Visibility Filtering introduced in Android 11. Headwind MDM agent was missing the permission: android.permission.QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES.

The issue has been fixed in version 4.16. Please update your setup.

I've updated to the latest 4.14 version and it still happens. Apps are downloading on each force configuration update.

Additionaly, it doesn't show all shortcuts on desktop. I have 5 apps with "show" icon option, but only two of them are visible.

There's no any error messages in logs. Apps are installing correctly. If I exit to system launcher, they are accessible and working fine.

Only webapps shortcuts (Kiosk browser pages) are visible.

EDIT. Emulator built with Android 12 works fine, so maybe it's Samsung Tab related problem.

I would guess your error is related to package visibility: https://developer.android.com/training/package-visibility  Samsung likes to set up its own rules.
